California should be a world leader in infrastructure of all types: internet access, broadband, public transportation, airports, roads, everything. This is a terrific time for California to build an infrastructure for the future – including a clean energy infrastructure. Interest rates are low and the projects would boost and make more efficient California’s economy, create hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and enable all Californians to participate in an expanded prosperity.
I will introduce legislation to remove state-law barriers to building municipal internet systems. All Californians should have easy access to the internet, which is now so critical for economic opportunity.
I believe net neutrality is a must, and that big business cannot be allowed to dictate how the internet is used. So many people in the 51st Assembly District work in film and television, and net neutrality means that viewers can have the access they need to see the great work our neighbors (and even my wife, Lisa) do!
