California should be a world leader in infrastructure of all types: internet access, broadband, public transportation, airports, roads, everything. This is a terrific time for California to build an infrastructure for the future—including a clean energy infrastructure. Interest rates are low and the projects would boost California’s economy and make it more efficient, create hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and enable all Californians to participate in an expanded prosperity.
I will introduce legislation to remove legal barriers to building municipal internet systems. All Californians should have easy access to the internet, which crucial for economic opportunity.
I believe net neutrality is a must, and that big business cannot be allowed to dictate the ways in which the internet is used. With many people in the 51st Assembly District working in film and television, net neutrality means that viewers can have the access they need to see the great work our neighbors (including the work of my wife, Lisa!).
